CW Morgan who played Billy Loomis’s dad in the original Scream film has died at 72.
His daughter Renata Macfie confirmed the sad news on her Facebook page on August 30 as she shared a throwback snap and a sweet tribute.
She wrote: ‘I’m never going to have the right words for this post. Loosing you has left the biggest hole in my heart. I miss you endlessly already. I will carry on our Mulholland drives and our Starbucks outings. I’m grateful and lucky to have had you as my daddy. My Guck. Rest easy bubby.
‘Life will never be the same without you and your poorly timed jokes that I inherited from you. Love you endlessly ( no more fighting about that anymore I win) [red heart emoji]’
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) told TMZ that law enforcement had responded to a call for a death investigation and the death seemed to be from natural causes.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) also told the publication they also received a call for an unconscious adult male.
As he was already deceased when authorities arrived, he was not transported as the incident became a coroner’s case.
He was best known for portraying Hank Loomis in the 1996 horror film Scream who was father to Skeet Ulrich’s character Billy Loomis who was the original Ghostface killer.
Morgan’s character is a was a prominent lawyer and the ex-husband of Billy’s mom Nancy Loomis (portrayed by Laurie Metcalf).
Hank had a secret affair with the mother of Neve Campbell’s main protagonist character Sidney Prescott’s mother Maureen Prescott.
The philandering broke up the Loomis family which led to son Billy descending into a murderous rage.
Morgan’s biggest scene in the horror classic happened when he came to vouch for his son as police were investigating him.
The talented actor did eventually return to the iconic film franchise four years later in a flashback scene in 2000’s Scream 3.
Los Angeles Medical Examiner records obtained by the Daily Mail say the actor died on August 30 in Los Angeles County as the cause of death remains unclear but records do indicate he died in the bathroom

His final post came on June 11, 2025 where he posted a snap of a blossoming pink flower without a caption
His acting career did not last too much further than that as his final role was as Coleman Spencer in an episode of Nash Bridges which aired in 2000.
Other roles included 1992’s television movie The Last of his Tribe and 1997 film Metro.
He also had voiceover roles in one episode of MTV animated series Aeon Flux which aired in 1995 and as Robert Cath in The Last Express video game which was released in 1997 on PC.
Morgan was born in Bisbee, Arizona back on June 8, 1954.
He eventually made his acting debut on NBC talk radio drama Midnight Caller at the age of 37 in 1991.
