You’ll notice the new controller doesn’t support Bluetooth, instead featuring a 10-foot cable. That was ostensibly done to keep the cost of the controller down—it retails for just $29.99. Sony says the controller’s low price makes it a great companion purchase for Knack 2, which the company recently released.
Other features missing from the controller include a light bar, stereo headset jack, speaker, or vibration motor. Still, the purpose of it is to provide younger audiences with a less complex controller that’s easier to use.
The Mini Wired Gamepad is set to launch in the U.S. and Canada this holiday season.
