SNES Classic will be available at this popular retailer this week

As was expected, it has been very hard to find an SNES Classic. Preorders sold out instantly and the few units that were in stores during its release a couple weeks ago went just as fast. Luckily, GameStop is replenishing its stock this week.

That’s great news for anyone looking to pick up a miniature version of the classic console. But GameStop won’t make getting one easy, revealing very few details about the stock it is receiving. You’ll have to do some of the legwork yourself.

GameStop (and ThinkGeek) will start receiving shipments today. All stores should receive their allotment of the SNES Classic by Thursday, October 12. Unfortunately, you cannot check online to see if there are units available. You’ll have to call or visit the store in person to make sure units are available to be sold.

GameStop and ThinkGeek will start selling online units starting October 11 at some point in the day. We don’t have specifics about the time or amount of stock that will be available.

It’ll be a toss up as to whether you can get your hands on a SNES Classic through GameStop, but it’s a better shot than waiting for units to show up on Amazon or your local retail store—which likely isn’t happening anytime soon.
