The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau confirms baby Yoda is NOT the Jedi master… saying dates don’t match up
He instantly become a cultural phenomenon after debuting in November on The Mandolorian.
But show creator Jon Favreau has confirmed that ‘baby Yoda’ is not in fact the much-loved Jedi master – because the dates don’t match up.
‘The series timeline takes place after Return of the Jedi,’ he told USA Today. ‘And fans of the original trilogy will remember that Yoda not only passes away but actually disappears. So Yoda exists as a force ghost.’

He refused to say whether ‘baby Yoda is related to the Yoda we all known and love, citing potential ‘spoilers’.
Favreau also explained something which has puzzled fans – the lack of baby Yoda merchandise.
This will hit the shelves in May, after Disney delayed production to ensure the secrecy of the series storyline.

The Mandalorian’s second season is set to air on Disney+ at some point during the Fall of 2020.
The show centers around Mando, an intergalactic bounty hunter who by chance, takes on the task of tracking down a piece of ‘precious cargo’ for members of the now fallen Empire.
After an intense shoot out in which he teams up with a droid on the same mission, Mando finally comes face to face with his bounty, which happens to be nothing more than a small, green ‘child.’
Mando struggles whether to turn over the bounty, claim his prize, and never look back, or protect the life of the young, powerful asset.
Of course, he makes the right choice, as seen in the eight episodes of the first season.
