Billie Eilish shocked and delighted her fans this week when she made her long-awaited return to Instagram and debuted a brand-new look.

Eilish, 24, shared her first personal Instagram post since May on Monday and included a photo of her striking new hairdo tucked away in the carousel.

But another selfie that showcased her taut midriff led some fans to speculate that she may have lost weight recently via an Ozempic-like drug.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Eilish’s representatives for comment but has not yet received a response.

The singer-songwriter, who was recently mocked for officiating her brother Finneas’s wedding on ‘stolen land’ – had her fans buzzing and sharing effusive comments after she revealed that she had chopped her hair down to a shoulder-length bob.

She also took a pass on her usual dark hair dye and instead adopted a new strawberry-blond color.

Eilish showed off her new hair in a mirror selfie taken in what looked like a dressing room.

She scrunched up her face comically and wore a navy sweater and baggy khaki pants rolled up to reveal her long white socks and black sneakers.

‘Natural hair gang ?!’ Paramore singer Hayley Williams wrote approvingly in the comments.

One fan gushed: ‘HER HAIR OMFG ITS SOO PRETTY,’ while another user enthused: ‘My God, what perfect hair!’

‘Are you going back blonde?’ asked a fan.

But not everyone was as complimentary about Eilish’s newly shortened locks.

One disgruntled fan wrote: ‘I’m going to be honest… I preferred the long hair.’

Other fans were fascinated by a context-free mirror selfie that the Bad Guy singer posted in which she tugged on her baggy jorts and boxers to highlight her trim, tattooed midriff.

The fit display led some fans to wonder if Eilish had been taking weight-loss drugs to slim down.

After seeing Eilish’s flat stomach, several fans shared their suspicions that she had used weight-loss drugs to achieve the look

‘Skinny b****,’ another person commented.

‘It’s clear that she’s on it let’s be fr,’ added another user in agreement.

However, several of Eilish’s fans came to her defense and claimed that she wasn’t using any weight loss drugs, though she doesn’t appear to have made a statement on the matter either way.

‘Normal body btw maybe you should be less jealous,’ shot back one user.

‘yall bullied her when she was a teenager that shes fat now shes working out and ozempic accusations,’ another fan claimed. ‘Very woman of you.’

While Eilish doesn’t appear to have commented on Ozempic rumors in the past, she has spoken about her struggles with body-image issues and how miserable she once was due to extreme dieting.

‘A couple of years back… I had been on this really intense kind of health journey and lost a lot of weight,’ she said during a 2024 appearance on NPR’s Fresh Air. ‘I was thinner than I’d ever been, and stronger than ever. But separately, I was extremely unhappy and unaware of how unhappy I was. It’s not a fun way to live.’

Eilish’s photo of her flat stomach may have shocked her fans because she tends to wear baggy clothes, though she has occasionally worn figure-hugging outfits.

The hitmaker also included a photo of her hand on which she had written: ‘I love you. You are beautiful’

In a 2019 Calvin Klein ad campaign, Eilish explained that she tends to wear baggy clothing to prevent her fans from opining about her body.

‘Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath,’ she explained. ‘Nobody can be like, “She’s slim-thick,” “She’s not slim-thick,” “She’s got a flat a**,” “She’s got a fat a**.” No one can say any of that because they don’t know.’

The interest in Eilish’s new look comes after she was lambasted on social media for presiding over the wedding of her brother Finneas O’Connell in August.

The nuptials took place at the San Ysidro Ranch, which is located on land that Native Americans previously held dominion over.

O’Connell and Claudia Sulewski, 30, exchanged vows at a lavish ceremony attended by celebs including Justin and Hailey Bieber, Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard.

Eilish was at the center of criticism after she said in an anti-ICE statement at the Grammys in February that ‘no one is illegal on stolen land.’

Several users took to X to criticize Eilish over a purported double standard, as the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians have said that Montecito is among the area of 7,000 square miles once encompassed in its territory.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Eilish and Chumash officials for further comment on the story.

In response to a story about the wedding, one user wrote, ‘Hypocrisy much? She lectures everyone about “stolen land” then hosts a lavish wedding ON that exact same land! Words ≠ actions!’

Another commenter said in the same vein, ‘Oh did they have it in… AMERICA?’

Others pointed out what they perceived to be other inconsistencies in Eilish’s ideologies in reaction to the lavish nuptials.

‘Same girl that said billionaires shouldn’t even exist,’ a user said, adding that the musical artist is ‘pushing pretty close to having a quarter of a billion dollars.’

Said one user, ‘Of all the tone deaf hypocrites in Hollywood [Eilish] might be the worst. Watch this “anti-capitalist” sell more sweatshop junk to her fans tomorrow too.’

A commenter suggested that Eilish ‘should publicly apologize to the native Americans and give a land acknowledgment.’

A number of social media users slammed the Grammy-winning artist on X

Some users blasted Eilish for what they perceived to be a double standard

Another described Eilish as a ‘cosplay struggle artist who wants to set rules for others and yet benefit, on the backend of the things she “[protests]” against.’

‘Nobody should take these people seriously or seek their advice or opinion, they don’t have the qualifications or moral fiber to be honest.’

At February’s Grammys, Eilish said: ‘As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything, but that no one is illegal on stolen land. It’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I feel really hopeful in this room.’

In her speech, Eilish encouraged viewers to ‘keep fighting and speaking up and protesting.’

The music star’s statement came weeks after conflicts in Minneapolis between immigration officers and protesters resulted in two fatal shootings.

Alex Pretti was shot on January 24, while Renee Good was shot on January 7, causing massive pushback against ICE and the Trump administration.

The Birds of a Feather vocalist ended her speech by saying: ‘Our voices really do matter and the people matter – f*** ICE.’

In the wake of her speech, social media users pointed out that the $3 million Los Angeles mansion Eilish owns is situated on land that once belonged to the Tongva tribe, the Indigenous people of the greater Los Angeles Basin.

The singer said at the Grammy Awards in LA in February: ‘As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything, but that no one is illegal on stolen land’

A spokesperson for the Tongva tribe subsequently told The Daily Mail: ‘We appreciate the opportunity to provide clarity regarding the recent comments made by Billie Eilish.’

‘As the First People of the greater Los Angeles Basin, we do understand that her home is situated in our ancestral land,’ said the spokesperson.

‘Eilish has not contacted our tribe directly regarding her property, we do value the instance when Public Figures provide visibility to the true history of this country.’

The spokesperson said efforts have been made to reach out to the singer to ‘express’ the tribe’s ‘appreciation for her comments.’

‘It is our hope that in future discussions, the tribe can explicitly be referenced to ensure the public understands that the greater Los Angeles Basin remains Gabrieleno Tongva territory.’
