ZHENGZHOU, China (AP) — Top-seeded Karolina Pliskova won dual hard-fought matches to strech a Zhengzhou Open semifinals on Friday.
Pliskova had to wait 1 ½ days to finish her second turn compare as she kick Polona Hercog 6-3, 7-5 though not before saving 5 set points in a second set. Pliskova was trailing 5-2 in a second set when play was dangling on Wednesday. Rain prevented play on Thursday and a organizers had to reschedule matches for Friday.
Pliskova returned to justice after Friday to kick sixth-seeded American Sofia Kenin 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in a quarterfinals.
“To play dual matches in a day, it’s never easy, though in a initial one, we was propitious adequate to not go to a third set, only finished fast and saved some energy for a subsequent one,” Pliskova said.
