Google: Our Chromebooks aren’t dead!

“Hey all, Google’s own Chromebooks aren’t “dead” as has been reported,” Osterloh said on Twitter. “They will live on, we just have *no plans to share at this time* ;)”  It seems Osterloh’s original comments suggesting that Google had “no plans to do one right now” didn’t mean that Google is killing off the idea entirely.

That makes sense, too, because Google’s the only one building super high-end Chromebooks. The expensive Pixel-branded model, for example, provided a premium design for developers who wanted something more premium than plastic devices sold in stores. A lot has changed since then, though, and now companies like ASUS and Samsung are selling premium Chromebooks, too, at a fraction of the cost of the Chromebook Pixel.

Anyway, don’t fret if you like Google’s hardware, since it sounds like there are new models coming.
