Capcom is aiming for a magic number of 4 million copies before the end of March. The game sold 2.5 million copies worldwide after the first week, meaning that 500,000 copies have been sold since then. That means Resident Evil 7: Biohazard needs to sell 1.5 million copies over the next month and a half. Tall order, but the DLC and game itself has been very well received.
The numbers are also down from Resident Evil 5 and 6, which sold 4 and 4.5 million in their first weeks on the market respectively.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was always meant to look like an indie game, but Capcom has AAA expectations of it all the same. We’ll see how long it takes to get there.
