When it comes to red carpets, few voices carry as much authority — or candor — as Melissa Rivers.
The former Fashion Police star, 57, shared her unfiltered take on the best and worst dressed at the 2026 Golden Globes in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, one day after the star-studded ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 11.
Rivers raved over Emily Blunt in Louis Vuitton. “So chic, I couldn’t breathe,” she told Us. The Quiet Place actress, 42, dazzled on the red carpet in a look styled by Jessica Paster, wearing a white dress with a boxy bodice featuring elegant silver buttons that draped over a flowing skirt.
Selena Gomez also earned Rivers’ praise in her black Chanel number, slaying the game “from the hair to the makeup to the jewelry to the dress.” Plus, “looking so happy” alongside her husband, Benny Blanco, also suits her, noted Rivers. It’s no surprise that Gomez, 33, stole the show considering the design took 323 hours to make.
Among the best dressed was also The Housemaid actress Amanda Seyfried, 40, “who walked in very Grace Kelly” in a couture Versace design paired with pieces of jewelry by Tiffany Co. “It was just beautiful and ethereal, and like she didn’t try,” added Rivers, who was wowed by her “movie star” fashion moment.
Rivers said that Kate Hudson, 46, also earned a spot on her Best Dressed list after looking stunning in a jaw-dropping Giorgio Armani Privé gown featuring an added touch of sparkle with Swarovski rhinestones.
When it came to the stars who missed the fashion mark, Rivers tells Us there were a few. “I hate saying this because I love her work so much, Parker Posey,” she admitted. The White Lotus star, 57, hit the scene in a ruffled Rodarte gown with Sabyasachi jewelry.
“I just don’t get it. How this fits into her, I mean, I know we’re quirky, but all that fabric when she came in was so overwhelming,” Rivers told Us. “I wish someone could explain it to me, like how they got to that.”
Rivers also wasn’t a big fan of Jenna Ortega’s look. The Wednesday star, 23, stepped out in a black Dilara Findikoglu look with side cutouts and fringe hanging over her shoulders for the soiree.
“I’m over the goth, and now all these younger actresses are taking this goth cue, so I felt it was like Jenna and her goth minions,” she said. “There’s all these other younger actresses suddenly going with this goth look.”
When asked which of host Nikki Glaser’s dresses caught her eye, Rivers said she liked the bright red number and the embellished pink gown she wore for the special occasion.
Glaser and her team including styling duo Dani + Emma, makeup artist Trace Watkins, and hair guru Christina Meneses told InStyle leading up to the soiree they were going to dress to the nines — quite literally — as she planned to wear a total of nine gowns at the event.

“We make sure we have the right people who know how to do this level of glam,” Glaser, 41, shared. “I’ve certainly never been on this kind of stage before until last year, and so we all just had to up our game.”
Rivers told Us there was a style trend — well, more of a color trend — that she noticed repeatedly hitting the carpet.
“Black and white and white, black and white,” she quipped. “Black and white, all black, all white, white on top, black on the bottom, white on the bottom, black on top.”
