Taylor Swift goes to a funeral, sobs with Chris Rock in first trailer for ‘Amsterdam’

Taylor Swift no longer has teardrops on her guitar.

Rather, she’s saved them for “Amsterdam” (in theaters Nov. 4), unleashing the waterworks in the first trailer for David O. Russell’s star-studded new film. Disney premiered the footage Wednesday during the studio’s presentation at CinemaCon, the annual convention for movie theater owners in Las Vegas.

Swift appears at the end of the trailer in a veiled fascinator and black dress, weeping over a casket with Chris Rock and Christian Bale by her side.

“You have a dead white man in the box,” Rock tells Bale. “Who do you think is going to get in trouble for that? The Black guy.”

Described as an “original romantic crime epic,” “Amsterdam” follows three veterans (Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington) who met in Belgium and have made a pact “to protect each other no matter what.” Little else is known about the 1930s period piece, although moviegoers can likely expect the screwball comedy and mordant, rapid-fire dialogue of past Russell movies “American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and “I Heart Huckabees.”

Grammy Award for “Folklore” last year, in addition to releasing new versions of past albums “Red” and “Fearless.”

“Amsterdam” is Bale’s third collaboration with Russell after “American Hustle” and “The Fighter,” for which he earned the Oscar for best supporting actor. The new film’s cast is rounded out by Anya Taylor-Joy, Rami Malek, Robert De Niro, Michael Shannon, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, and Timothy Olyphant.
