So, I failed.
Last week I told you about a new challenge I was setting for myself – to go to bed early every night for 30 days to put myself on a healthier, more balanced schedule. Well I’m disappointed to report that just a couple weeks in I got off track.
This past week I’ve found myself staying up later than I should have, oftentimes unnecessarily. (I partially blame Hulu’s new show “Only Murders in the Building” for keeping me up late one night. Is anyone else watching? I’m so intrigued!)
I’m sure anyone who has tried to set a goal for themselves or form a new habit can relate to the struggle to stay consistent.
But I’ve decided there are two ways I’m going to move forward.
First, I’m going to give myself some grace. I didn’t follow the challenge perfectly, but that’s OK. Especially during a pandemic and so much else going on in the world, I think it’s only fair to cut ourselves some slack. Things are mentally and emotionally difficult during the era of COVID and being hard on ourselves only makes it worse.
