Verizon Stops Selling Pixel 2 with Pixel 3 on the Horizon

Verizon has stopped selling the Pixel 2 on the eve of the Pixel 3 unveiling.

First reported by DroidLife, Verizon was selling the Pixel 2 as recently as Tuesday, but with Google holding an event next week, the carrier stopped selling Google’s flagship. However, this doesn’t mark the death of the Pixel 2 just yet, as Google is still selling the device.

We should note the bigger Pixel 2 XL is still available through Verizon (and Google), but it’s unclear how much longer it’ll be available for with the Pixel 3 and 3 XL on the horizon.

This leads to the bigger question: Will Google continue to sell the Pixel 2 and 2 XL after their successors hit the market? Most smartphone makers sell older models at a discounted price to provide customers with an affordable option, but Google didn’t adopt this tactic when it launched the Pixel 2, discontinuing the first Pixel right away. The Pixel 2 may be in for a similar fate.

Google is holding an event on October 9 where it’ll officially unveil the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The devices are expected to feature a revamped glass design that allows for wireless charging, spec improvements, and improved cameras.
