According to XDA-Developers, the global model can use ATT’s firmware without any problems. The publication installed the leaked firmware on a Mate 10 Pro sold outside the U.S. to discover both Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE on the carrier’s network work successfully. Bloatware also appeared in complete form, which is unsurprising since all U.S. carriers do so.
There wasn’t any workaround necessary. Since the bootloader remained locked for the firmware’s installation, the file is authentic and signed by Huawei. So there’s no longer any doubt that ATT will sell the Mate 10 Pro at some point in the future.
The leaked firmware confirms that the ATT-branded Mate 10 Pro is nothing more than a global model with carrier-guided changes. ATT will also be in charge of approving and rolling out software updates.
When the Mate 9 was released in the U.S., Huawei waited to share availability until CES. If that’s what we’re going by, the Mate 10 Pro for ATT will debut in just a few weeks. The trade show in Las Vegas starts in early January, and Huawei is believed to have a presence there. The difference between the Mate 10 Pro and Mate 9, however, will be carrier support. Not a single carrier offered the Mate 9 in the U.S., but Huawei appears to have fostered a relationship with at least ATT to get its latest flagship onto a major carrier’s lineup.
