RIP, Facebook Groups

Facebook is killing its dedicated Groups application for Android and iOS. On September 1, the firm will prevent users from logging into the client as it shifts its focus towards improving the Groups section of the main Facebook application.

“The groups team has been working on additional tools to improve the overall groups experience and we’ve found that we can do more with and for the community by investing in the main Facebook app,” explains Facebook.

All good things must come to an end

I’ve been using the standalone Groups client for around a year now, so I’m a little disappointed with Facebook’s decision. That said, I’m pleased it’s now focusing on building one reliable application, instead of maintaining two glitchy ones.
