Pacific Rim Uprising trailer finally gives clues to the plot

A new trailer has hit for Pacific Rim Uprising, and it gives away a surprising amount of plot details.

While normally we discuss some of what happens in a movie trailer, it feels like there is a bit too much info in this for us to discuss it openly in front of anyone who may want to go into the movie spoiler-free. It does confirm some of the fan speculations out there, however, and definitely seems to be a different take on the world of Pacific Rim than the first film.
