Oculus Go brings the brand into portable virtual reality

 

It’s the first standalone product from Oculus, and it’ll do everything from playing games to watching movies or concerts. Oculus says the Go is an “all-in-one device” representing a “huge leap forward in comfort, visual clarity, and ease-of-use.” The portable virtual reality headset is soft, breathable fabric that’s lightweight.

Creating the unique immersive experience is a set of custom components. The device features a high-resolution fast-switch LCD display, new lenses for a wide field of view with reduced glare, and integrated spatial audio. If you prefer a private listening experience, Oculus included a headphone jack as well.

Oculus will ensure a large number of apps are compatible with the Go by bringing over everything Gear VR owners already enjoy. Both Oculus-made virtual reality headsets will share apps and controller input sets.

The Go will be released in early 2018, and Oculus plans to sell it for just $199.
