Just pretend you didn’t read anything about the HTC U12+ in recent weeks when it’s announced later this month. The 2018 flagship is unlikely to have any surprises attached by showtime. Information surrounding the U12+ has been plentiful, ranging from images to specifications and anything in-between.
Now we have what should be our final leak. Both press renders and an in-depth spec sheet have surfaced online. If there was anything you were unsure about, here’s your opportunity to be reminded of exactly what’s coming.
HTC would like you to wait one more week to see this, but mobile industry insider Evan Blass went ahead in revealing the U12+ in three colors.

The U12+ is shown in translucent, burgundy, and black. While HTC was long known for using metal, this phone appears to have a glass-based back like its predecessor. Its frame, however, will be made of metal. There’s no doubt the U12+ will look and feel like a premium product.
Overall, the U12+ will measure 156.6 x 73.9 x 8.7-9.7mm and weigh 188g.
Up front, there’s a 6-inch Quad HD+ (2880×1440) Super LCD 6 display. The screen resolution is a little higher than you’re familiar with because HTC is implementing 18:9 aspect ratio. By slimming the top and bottom bezels, the U12+ has a larger display within a compact body. HTC also uses DCI-P3 and sRGB for color accuracy. HDR 10 support will be present, too.
HTC seems to have added an extra physical button to the sides as well. The U12+ could have a dedicated Google Assistant key similar to the new LG G7. Other than that, it’s a standard setup with on-screen navigation buttons and a pressure-sensitive body.
Edge Sense 2, the squeeze-friendly technology introduced last year, might become touch-friendly. The spec sheet refers to holding and double-tapping rather than just squeezing.
