It’ll ship with all of the popular features Google introduced on Oreo. That means EMUI 6 has notification dots, picture-in-picture mode, adaptive icons, Google Play Protect, and more. But Huawei will be adding its own pieces to the foundation. Huawei would like its hardware to have unique software, so EMUI 6 brings a few new features as well. And they’ll all debut in 2017 on the upcoming Mate 10.
Here’s what’s new on EMUI 6:
So it’s not actually a big change from EMUI 5 to EMUI 6. A lot of the things Huawei is doing can only be noticed by developers working behind the scenes. Still, Huawei has definitely incorporated Oreo and not many companies can say the same. It’s even embracing Project Treble, which is Google’s way of speeding up software updates across all Android devices. Huawei phones with Project Treble should get software updates quicker than before while staying supported longer.
Expect to see the Huawei Mate 10 launch on October 16, and that’s when EMUI 6 also debuts.
