CW’s upcoming superhero show Black Lightning has been set to debut in 2018 since it was announced, but it seems the show will be coming a little sooner than we would’ve guessed.
The CW announced that Black Lightning will premiere on Tuesday, January 16, at 9 p.m. EST., right after The Flash, which comes back on the air from its holiday hiatus the same night.
The keen-eyed CW fans will note that this timeslot currently belongs to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Have no fear, time travelers – Legends is simply switching nights. The network hasn’t yet announced what they’re switching it to, but a good guess points us at Monday night. Wednesday belongs to Riverdale and Dynasty, and the show has already tried Tuesday and Thursday. Popping on right after Supergirl would make a lot of sense. Even so, it’s hard not to wonder how the show’s doing – this is the second move for the show this season.
The network announced the return dates for all its big shows from that holiday hiatus, as well. Supergirl takes flight on January 15, one night before The Flash and Black Lightning, and Arrow pops up on January 18 in its usual timeslot. Legends returns sometime in February.
