Putting Alexa into a speaker-based Moto Mod works exactly how you’d expect. Just place the backplate onto a compatible phone and you instantly get the power of one of the richest digital assistants. Alexa can play music, answer questions, and serve news just as it does on the Echo and other Amazon-made products. It’ll also control connected devices in your home to do things like adjusting temperature and turning lights on or off.
There are four microphones built into the Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa to ensure the digital assistant always hears you even from a distance. Don’t worry about your phone’s battery life, though. This Moto Mod has a built-in battery for up to 15 hours of use on a single charge.
Moto Mods work with the Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z2 Play, Moto Z, Moto Z Force, and Moto Z Play.
The Alexa-powered Moto Mod will be priced at $149 when it’s released in November. Specific markets weren’t shared, but Motorola says “markets where Amazon Alexa is available†should also be where the Moto Mod is sold. This means the Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa will be sold in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany in addition to other countries.
Motorola, Best Buy, Amazon, and Verizon are the sellers of the newest Moto Mod in the United States.
