Arch Manning will be in Athens this weekend, his high school coach Nelson Stewart confirmed to the Athens Banner-Herald Monday. This will be his first visit this spring and he’s planning to be at Texas next.
After the 2021 high school football season wrapped up, Manning’s focus shifted to basketball where he was a part of Isidore Newman’s state championship winning team. In 25 basketball games played this season, the talented quarterback averaged 2.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
“Arch is smart. He reminds me of Peyton when he played football. He was heady,” said Newman head basketball coach Randy Livingston to the Daily Advertiser. “His Dad, Cooper, scored a little bit more than him (in basketball) and was out in transition a lot more.”

On the gridiron though, Manning played in seven games in 2021 for the Greenies. He threw 1,371 yards, 17 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Manning also rushed for 310 yards and five touchdowns.
Manning is the No. 1 overall prospect in his class, per 247Sports Composite, and visited UGA back in September for the South Carolina game after visiting over the summer. The Bulldogs are one of six teams that are still reportedly in the Arch Manning sweepstakes, along with Alabama, Florida, LSU, Mississippi and Texas. UGA head coach Kirby Smart and several other coaches attended one of Manning’s basketball games in January, but so did Nick Saban, LSU’s Brian Kelly and others.
