Jersey Shore star Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi says she is cancer-free after undergoing hysterectomy
Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi revealed she is now cancer-free after undergoing a hysterectomy.
The reality TV personality, 38, said she is ‘on the other side’ after receiving her diagnosis of stage 1 cervical cancer seven months ago, but noted that she is still in recovery from her operation.
She also said she is ‘happy’ and ‘finally starting to feel better.’
‘As of right now, I am cancer-free,’ she told People in an interview published on Friday after the successful surgery. ‘They got everything out. So I’m definitely happy that I did it.’
This comes less than a month after she revealed she underwent a ‘painful’ hysterectomy during her battle with cancer.
The Jersey Shore star encouraged others to get their regular check-ups as she shared her own experience.

‘I avoided getting my pap smear for a long time,’ she explained.
‘And once I finally went to the doctors, I feel like it’s just been week after week of doing a procedure, then another procedure, and then a hysterectomy.’
Polizzi added: ‘So it’s been a journey and a long road, but I’m happy that I’m on the other side of it and everything is going good.’
She also said that while she is ecstatic to learn of the good news, she still has to take it easy while recovering.
‘I’m trying to listen to my body and give my body grace and not go crazy,’ she said.
‘There’s days where I do too much and then I just feel exhausted and I start getting pains,’ Polizzi continued. ‘But other than that, I’m finally starting to feel better.
‘I feel like I’m almost getting back to myself,’ she added.
She said her doctors told her that there is a possibility her cancer could return and she has to keep getting routine pap smears every three months.
Because of her experience, she said she is taking extra care of her health going forward.
‘Getting a cancer diagnosis is very terrifying and scary,’ she said. ‘So, I just want my body to be as healthy as it can be.’

Polizzi continued: ‘I feel like I’m eating better, working out, obviously staying on top of my appointments.
‘I’m just not avoiding anything and just trying to be the best version of myself,’ she added.
She also expressed gratitude for the community she built on social media after sharing her journey with her fans.
‘In the beginning, I felt so alone,’ she admitted. ‘I had no idea what was gonna happen.
‘I didn’t know anybody going through cervical cancer,’ she continued.
‘So [speaking out] makes me feel like I’m giving a platform to women dealing with the same things that I did,’ she said. ‘Just a safe place for us women to talk.’
Previously, Polizzi revealed she was diagnosed with stage I cervical cancer in February.
The mother of three, who shares Lorenzo, 13, Giovanna, 11, and Angelo, seven, with husband Jionni LaValle, said she received the diagnosis after getting a biopsy.

‘The oncologist said you can either do chemo, radiation or the hysterectomy,’ she said at the time.
‘Obviously, I think the smart choice here is the hysterectomy,’ she said. ‘I’ll still get to keep my ovaries, which is a good sign, but the hysterectomy, got to get the cervix in, the uterus out and then possibly lymph nodes, because it can [spread].’
She later shared another social media post discussing the treatment and surgical procedure she and her doctor decided is best for her.
She said she would be getting an open-abdominal hysterectomy and explained why she did that instead of laparoscopically, in which a surgeon performs the procedure using small cuts and a microscopic camera.
‘If [the surgeon] does it [laparoscopically], there is a nine percent chance that he doesn’t get all the cancer, so he’s got to do the C-section cut to get everything out,’ she explained in a follow-up Instagram video.
‘So that’s what we’re dealing with, and that’s what it’s got to be,’ she continued. ‘And I know the recovery is, like, way worse.’
