Miley Cyrus recalled a panic attack that she had back in 2022 on stage following the death of friend Taylor Hawkins and experiencing a ‘terrifying’ plane emergency.
The 33-year-old Grammy winner, who recently dropped her new album Bass Persaudes on September 18, candidly opened up about the topic while interviewing with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
At one point during their conversation, the Flowers hitmaker remembered having an ‘actual anxiety attack on stage’ during a performance in Mexico at the time.
‘I was saying to the crowd, “I’m having an anxiety attack.” And they were like, “Hell yeah, we’re having anxiety attacks.”‘
Cyrus explained that the concert in Mexico had taken place shortly after Covid, and said going from seeing only a few people to hundreds of thousands in a large venue had been jarring.
‘I guess it wasn’t so much anxiety, as I realize now in hindsight; it was just a buildup of the cocktail of chaos, you could say. Living through a global pandemic like everyone else,’ the star said.

Hawkins, who had been the drummer and vocalist of the band Foo Fighters, passed away at the age of 50 on March 25, 2022 after a suspected overdose.
The late music artist died inside a hotel room in Bogota, Columbia and had ‘ten different types of drugs in his system’ at the time of his shock death.
An autopsy found that Hawkins suffered a ‘cardiovascular collapse’ after taking drugs such as heroin, marijuana, and opioids, according to investigators.
During Covid, Cyrus and Hawkins had been neighbors and developed a friendship during that time.
The songstress explained to Lowe that both she and Hawkins had been ‘in alignment’ when it came to music.
His passing occurred not long after she traveled to Paraguay to perform at the Asuncionico Music Festival. The Foo Fighters had also been performers at the event.
However, while flying to the festival, her plane was struck by lightning and had to make an emergency landing.
Due to the incident, Cyrus did not have a chance to see Hawkins one last time before his death.

After the ‘super terrifying’ plane emergency, she recalled that Hawkins had been the first person that she called.
‘He’s like, “Man, I’m here. It’s raining, but like the show’s going to be sick.” And the next day he was gone,’ she said.
Daily Mail has reached out to reps of Cyrus for comment, but has yet to hear back.
The former Disney channel star has been keeping busy and recently dropped her 10th studio album titled Bass Persaudes on September 18.

Earlier this month, Cyrus dropped the titular track Bass Persaudes on September 3.
However, the song had fallen out of Spotify’s Global 200 chart just two days after it was released.
Bass Persaudes debuted on the chart at the number 23 spot and fell down to number 123 the next day. By day three, the song was no longer on the chart.

She celebrated the new album’s release on Instagram and shared a series of snaps. One black and white image showed the star posing topless as she struck a pose only wearing a pair of bottoms and heels.
‘This album happened fast but that’s been my life for 20 years,’ she penned to her followers in the caption.
‘Once I started wishing to land a role that would make LA my home it’s been nonstop. This album is a reflection of everywhere I’ve been along the way and the peace that came with starting to slow it all down.’
The singer added, ‘Thank you for celebrating this release with me. It’s a special record and it’s bliss to share with you. Love always. ❤️.’
Cyrus, who is engaged to fellow music artist Maxx Morando, is set to step onto the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on October 16 and October 18 in support of her new album.

During her interview with Zane Lowe, he said, ‘I think you would have to do a residency of 80 shows at the [Hollywood] Bowl to satisfy the level of demand.’
The songstress then revealed that had been her first ‘idea.’
She added, ‘This is the ultimate dress rehearsal. I’ve learned now through the queue that my calculations are correct, and people will come to me. I don’t need to drive to you.’
Lowe pointed out that the shows at the Hollywood Bowl appear to be ‘proof of concept and potentially the beginning of something broader.’
