The Marvel movie franchise, also known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) started in 2008 with Iron Man. The MCU is divided into four phases, spanning 28 released movies and multiple more on the way. The Infinity Saga, the MCU’s first three phases, contains the first 23 films of the franchise. The term was coined by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. The fourth phase started with 2021’s Black Widow.
