The Marvel movie franchise, also known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) started in 2008 with Iron Man. The MCU is divided into four phases, spanning 28 released movies and multiple more on the way. The Infinity Saga, the MCU’s first three phases, contains the first 23 films of the franchise. The term was coined by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. The fourth phase started with 2021’s Black Widow. In addition to films, the MCU contains a plethora of TV shows, many of which are available on Disney+.
There is some debate over how to watch Marvel movies, but a tried and true method is the way they were originally released in theaters, starting with 2008’s Iron Man.
