Eminem took to social media Monday to show off a chip he received from after staying sober for 12 years after past battles with addiction.
The 47-year-old artist posted a shot of a black coin with the inscription, ‘One day at a time … Unity Service Recovery.’
The Detroit native, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, wrote the caption, ‘Clean dozen, in the books! I’m not afraid.’

The Grammy-winning rapper, who had long chronicled in his work his affinity for various drugs, ceased consuming narcotics including Vicodin, Ambien and Valium in 2008, a year after he had a methadone overdose.
After sparsely releasing new music for more than four years, he released the record Relapse in May of 2009, made after he got off drugs.

Eminem’s daughter Hailie Mathers, 23, bears a striking… That month, in an interview with Vibe, the artist was candid about how bad things got at the depths of his addiction, estimating he consumed ‘anywhere between 10 to 20’ Vicodin daily in addition to massive doses of Valium, Ambien and other substances.
‘The numbers got so high,’ he said, ‘I don’t even know what I was taking.’

In regards to the overdose, he said that an ‘acquaintance’ gave him medication he later learned was methadone, ‘which is used to wean heroin addicts off dope.
The Without Me artist admitted that his ‘doctor told [him that] the amount of methadone [he’d] taken was equivalent to shooting up four bags of heroin.
‘Had I known it was methadone, I probably wouldn’t have taken it,’ he told the magazine. But as bad as I was back then, I can’t even say 100 percent for sure … even when they told me I almost died, it didn’t click.’
In 2010, he released the album Recovery, which won the Grammy for Best Rap Album the following year.

He’s been as productive as ever in recent years, with 2017’s Revival, 2018’s Kamikaze and his most recent work, Music to Be Murdered By, which went to the top of the Billboard 200 charts earlier this year.
On Twitter, the My Name Is rapper’s fans, hailed him for the milestone in his journey.
‘You’re an inspiration to so many people out here struggling everyday with addiction,’ one user wrote. ‘You’re proof that anything is possible if you work at it. You motivate billions from all over the world who admire you. Kudos to you for fighting for your own life . We love u. You’re family.’
Another – using the pop culture reference for hardcore fans from his track Stan – wrote, ‘We Stan Our King.’
His fellow artist Kxng Kong, referring to the current lockdown, wrote the phrase ‘SoberHouse’ in response.
