Brooke Burke is on a mission to ‘make menopause sexy’.

The model turned health advocate has been campaigning for not just greater awareness of menopause, but a complete rebrand of an issue that is notoriously accompanied by an array of painful symptoms. 

Yet Burke isn’t letting the discomfort define her age and insists the 50s don’t have to ‘suck.’  

‘I’m having the best decade of my life and I’m in my 50s. Let’s make menopause sexy, like come on!” Burke, 54, told The Daily Mail in an exclusive interview at Joyburst’s Joy Summit at Calamigos Beach Club in Malibu. 

A time period which signals the end of a woman’s reproductive life, women going through menopause have suffered from hot flashes, night sweats, sleeping troubles, emotional changes and more. 

Now Burke is championing for women to become their own best advocates once they hit the milestone.

‘I’m so invested in being an advocate for women’s health, and being an educator, that I didn’t find myself in a lost space, but I found myself suffering through the changes in the body and not necessarily knowing. Women don’t always know they’re in it when they’re in it,’ she said. 

‘So you have to have a great relationship with your doctor, you have to be a detective, you have to be willing to know that my body’s different than your body and take a unique journey,’ she said. 

Now, on the ‘other side’ of menopause, Burke is working with women ‘in the transformation space.’ 

‘There’s some shame, there’s some confusion, there’s some mystery, and so many things happen to the female body – energy, libido, skin elasticity, weight gain, belly fat,’ she said. ‘Everything shifts. 

‘So I’m just a big believer that we have to change with our bodies when we’re changing. I feel like more people are talking about menopause, maybe ’cause I’m in it,’ she said. ‘We need that support system. We need answers. 

‘I don’t think that that decade is supposed to suck. I don’t. I think that it is going to be okay, and I’m on the other side of it, through hormone treatment therapy. 

‘It’s a conversation we need to have, and quite honestly, it hasn’t been on the forefront in Western medicine, but now we’re starting to hear about it,’ she said. 

The founder of a fitness empire, Burke is already tuned into her ebbs and flows of her own body. 

She launched Brooke Burke Body in 2017, a fitness lifestyle app that offers a library of workouts along with nutrition advise.

With her incredibly svelte physique, Burke serves as natural body goals for someone seeking to get into shape this summer.

Yet Burke stressed she doesn’t believe in ‘quick fixes’ and believes in a longer-term approach to weight loss.

Revealing how she has been staying in shape, Burke said she has been doing ‘a lot’ of active mobility, body sculpting, and strength training.   

‘In my age group, I think we really need it to just protect our muscle, to maintain our muscle,’ she said of strength training. 

‘I don’t really believe in the quick fixes and the bad diets, and like dropping weight for bikini season. It’s about rituals, a lifestyle.’

Burke has been engaged to Scott Rigsby since 2019

Multi-hyphenate Burke is a fitness personality, model, author, actress, and businesswoman.

She hosted the E! travel show Wild On, the CBS show Rock Star and TV Land’s She’s Got The Look.

Burke also co-hosted Dancing With The Stars from 2010 to 2013 after winning the show’s seventh season. 

She is also the host of Penn Teller: Fool Us, joining the series in its 10th season.

A doting mother of two, Burke shares daughter Heaven Rain and son Shaya Braven with ex-husband David Charvet.

She has been engaged to Scott Rigsby since 2019.
