President Trump LOVED the Bastille Day parade — so much so that he wants to replicate it on the streets of Washington, D.C.
The president raved about the parade while meeting with France’s Emanuel Macron at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday.Â
“I was your guest on Bastille Day and it was one of the greatest parades I’ve ever seen,” he said. “It was two hours on the button and it was military might, and I think a tremendous thing for France and the spirit of France.”
Trump called it a “beautiful thing to see” and noted his appreciation for the representation of different wars.
His conclusion? The United States needs something similar to this, proposing that the parade would show off the country’s military would go right down Pennsylvania Avenue.
“I don’t know, we’re going to have to top it,” he said.Â
For his part, Macron said he and the French people were “very proud” to host Trump and first lady Melania Trump.
This isn’t the first time that the president has reportedly wanted to show off military might in a parade. Emails acquired by the Huffington Post showed that Trump’s transition team had requested that military vehicles were used in the inauguration parade.
