Today in weird stories involving Trump

Remember Harold Bornstein, President Trump’s former doctor who declared that Trump would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency”? Well, he’s back. And he’s got a tale to tell.

According to the account he gave to NBC News, Bornstein’s office was raided by three men in February 2017. One of those men was a top lawyer at the Trump Organization. Another was Trump’s own bodyguard.

Their target: Trump’s medical records. Bornstein served as Trump’s doctor for more than 30 years.

Bornstein said the incident happened two days after he was quoted in a New York Times report for prescribing Trump with a hair-growth treatment.

“I couldn’t believe anybody was making a big deal out of a drug to grow his hair that seemed to be so important,” Bornstein told NBC. “And it certainly was not a breach of medical trust to tell somebody they take Propecia to grow their hair. What’s the matter with that?”

The White House confirmed Tuesday that its medical unit “took possession” of Trump’s records, though it didn’t describe how that was done. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders called it standard practice.

What year is it?

Just as a reminder, it is not 2016 anymore.

But honestly, watching GOP ads ahead of this year’s midterms, it’s hard tell. Why? Because they’re all campaigning against Hillary Clinton.

Data compiled for the USA TODAY Network found that 13,000 TV commercials Jan. 1 through April 24 mentioned or showed a photo of Clinton.

Jennifer Duffy, of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report, said this was actually a smart strategy.

“The end goal is to taint somebody as not conservative enough, and there are limited ways to do that,” she said. “If you tie them to an unpopular Democrat, that helps really hammer home that message.”

Space!

You might not think that “Space Force” sounds like a real thing.

But it very well could be, if President Trump has anything to say about it.

The president on Tuesday again floated the idea that he could add this space-focused branch to the military. And he did it while he was speaking to people from the U.S. Military Academy, of course.

“Does that make sense? Because we are getting very big in space, both militarily and for other reasons and we are seriously thinking of the Space Force,” he said.
