Food inequity researchers have found time and again that healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein, are more expensive and harder to find for low-income families, who often end up relying on cheaper, more convenient, more calorically dense and less healthful options. Research also shows that when you make healthy food cheaper, people buy more of it.Â
