Book: Trump sought to be H.W. Bush’s veep

A new autobiography of President George H.W. Bush has an engaging tidbit about a 2016 presidential claimant — not Jeb Bush, though Donald Trump.

Jon Meacham’s Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush, to be published Tuesday, reports that Trump wanted to be a elder Bush’s using partner when he was nominated for boss in 1988.

The book says Trump let Bush debate confidant Lee Atwater know he was accessible for a post.

In a Sunday talk on CNN, Trump pronounced Atwater asked him about a using partner post, and claimed that a Bush confidant told him he would “be great” in a job.
