Pokémon GO players have a new elusive target to set their catching sights on. They can now go after a Shiny Pikachu, and it’s been confirmed that the mascot of the Pokémon franchise is out around the world in shiny form.
What’s a Shiny Pokémon? These rare, uniquely colored and sometimes sparkly creatures have been in the series forever. They’re essentially hard to find recolorings of standard Pokémon.
Before Pikachu, the only Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon GO was Magikarp, of all things. The cool thing about the Shiny Magikarp in the mobile game is that when it evolves into Gyarados, it keeps its shiny sheen. That’s pretty neat.
@PokemonGOHubNet got verification of the caught Shiny Pikachu from a Twitter user. Here’s a bit of that exchange, along with the slightly darker Pikachu.
Here you Go! 🙂 anything more? pic.twitter.com/GBauSfMVaf
