As mentioned before, Dragon Quest XI has to sell between 3.5 million to 4.5 million copies to catch up with the likes of Dragon Quest VII, VIII, and XI. With two versions on the market and a monstrous, nationwide marketing campaign underway, it might not take all that long.
In spite of all that has changed in the video game world, the country is still deeply in love with this franchise.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of the Elusive Age will be released in North American in 2018, but Square Enix has yet to confirm which platforms it will focus on. The game is available now in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS, and a Nintendo Switch version is also underway.
