The other screenshots give a look into the game’s battle system, or rather, four battle systems! Both the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4 versions of the game have two different options for how to approach combat. The PlayStation 4 version allows players to choose between either controlling the camera in battles for their own convenience or let the computer take the camera over for a more cinematic flair.
As for the Nintendo 3DS version, it lets players choose between a 3D viewpoint similar to the one found in Dragon Quest VII and a more classic 2D viewpoint, which mirrors the Nintendo DS remakes of Dragon Quest IV, V, and VI. That’s a total of four different ways to see Dragon Quest XI’s battles unfold.
The game will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS in 2017. A Nintendo Switch version is also in development.
