Persona 5’s soundtrack is an astounding 110 tracks long, Atlus provides free samples

Atlus released Persona 5’s  soundtrack in Japan today, and as you might expect from a game that’s going to be well over the 60 or even 70 hour mark, the soundtrack is equally large. Altogether, it is made up of 110 different tracks and spans three full CDs.

Atlus, as usual, treated its fans to some nice, free material and gave a glimpse at what they can expect from the game. The soundtrack was primarily composed by Shoji Meguro, but many were involved in its creation.

Expectations are high after Persona 4

Persona 4 has a lot good things going for it, and the music is definitely one of them. I could pick ten random tracks from its listing, and at least four or five of them could be considered classics from the JRPG genre.

Naturally, this means Persona 5’s soundtrack is going to have a lot to live up to. Go ahead and give it a listen if you want, but it’s my belief that video game music should be experienced as it was originally intended: within the game itself. After you play the game and pick your favorites, then it’s fine to listen to them through other means.

Persona 5 launches for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on April 4.
