City officials of Miami Beach, Florida have striped Sean ‘Diddy Combs’ of his Key to the City, nine years after the disgraced mogul received the honor. 

According to TMZ, the city decided to part ways with the 54-year-old rapper due to his declining reputation amid his arrest and accumulation of sexual assault accusations and lawsuits. 

An insider told the outlet that the move was made at a hearing on Wednesday, which yielded a unanimous vote from the Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner and the city commission.

However, Meiner has yet to sign the resolution making it official.

The outlet also reported that Commissioners Joe Magazine, David Suarez, Tanya Katzoff Bhatt, and Alex Fernandez sponsored the decision.

Back in 2015, the former mayor, Philip Levine, presented the honorary key to the city to Combs during the Revolt Music Conference at the Fontainebleau in the vibrant city.

At the time, he was presented the key because of his musical talents and hand in forming the Revolt Music Conference in Miami Beach. 

The city has also awarded keys to the city to other Hollywood stars including Combs’ ex, Jennifer Lopez.

And several months ago, Combs was also asked to return New York’s Key to the City. 

The rapper returned the Key to the City to New York City in June after Mayor Eric Adams requested it back in a letter.

In his letter, he asked for the key to be reclaimed after the emergence of a video showing Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in hotel surveillance footage and the ensuing controversy.

The mayor sent the embattled rapper a letter, in which he stated that he stands with survivors of domestic abuse.

He also noted that the Key to the City is awarded to model citizens and said that Combs no longer met the criteria for selection.

Disturbing footage of the Democrat leader of the Big Apple, who is currently facing criminal charges himself, handing Combs the key resurfaced in September, a year after it was presented to him.

Previously, Combs was also awarded Chicago’s Key to the City in October 2006, receiving the honor from former Mayor Richard Daley. 

It is unclear if the Windy City has also followed suit in rescinding the key.

Combs’ trial for sex trafficking and racketeering charges is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025; seen in a throwback snap

Combs is currently in a Brooklyn jail after he was arrested by federal agents in New York City in mid-September.

He is facing sex trafficking charges and is awaiting his impending trial as well as also facing more than 100 sexual misconduct allegations against him. 

Weeks ago, an attorney announced that he is representing 120 accusers who have come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against the hip-hop mogul.

Combs’ trial for sex trafficking and racketeering charges is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
