Dealing with annoying spam texts on iPhone might be easier than you think

The rise of technology and the frequent use of personal devices has resulted in the rise of one major annoyance: spam.

It comes through as phone calls, emails, and, more recently, text messages.

It is possible to stop spam calls, and spam emails often find themselves in a dedicated folder.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to stop spam texts entirely, but whatever you do, do not respond to it!

If it’s a service you’ve signed up for, like store discounts, responding with “STOP” should remove you from the list.

But there are a few ways to help get rid of those spam texts that are coming through.

Watch the video above to learn how to filter out spam texts.

How to stop, block spam texts on iPhone

When you get a spam text on your iPhone, look for the option that says “Report Junk.” This typically appears at the bottom of the message or when you go to delete it.

This option only shows up on numbers you don’t have saved, and messages you haven’t responded to.

Reporting it as junk sends the information to your phone service provider and Apple.

This “doesn’t prevent the sender from sending messages” so Apple recommends blocking the number to prevent further contact.

Finding deleted messages on iPhone

There are two ways to recover deleted text messages on iPhone.

If you have Message Filtering turned on, tap “Filters” in the top left-hand corner to see all of the inbox filters.

Then, tap “Recently Deleted.”

If you aren’t using inbox filters, just long press on “Edit” in the top left-hand corner of your inbox and tap “Show Recently Deleted.”

Messages deleted from your device will live in this space for “30 to 40 days.” After that, they’re gone!
