Yastremska will now be on her way to Indian Wells to compete in the BNP Paribas Open, which begins Monday. Her first match will be either Wednesday or Thursday.
She was able to be added to the field when Italian player Camila Giorgi (ranked No. 29 in the world) withdrew from the event with an injury Sunday.
Naomi Osaka, the 2018 champion here who was in the field as a wild card, replaced Giorgi in the main draw. That opened up a wild card spot, which the tournament gave to Yastremska.
She becomes the fifth Ukrainian player in the BNP Paribas Open field, joining singles players Elina Svitolina, Anhelina Kalinina, Marta Kotsyuk and doubles player Nadiia Kichenok.
