Sandra Bullock is discussing her experience being a parent to her two adopted African-American children.

In a Red Table Talk interview on Tuesday, the Oscar winner said she ‘sometimes’ wished she and her children’s skin color ‘matched’ because it would be ‘easier’ on how people perceive them as a family.

‘To say that I wished our skins matched… sometimes I do,’ the 57-year-old star confessed, as Jada Pinkett Smith and her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris agreed. 

The Blind Side actress has a son Louis, 11, who she adopted in 2010 when he was 3½ months old, and a daughter Laila, eight, who she adopted from a Louisiana foster home when the child was three in 2015.

‘Because then it would be easier on how people approach us. And I have the same feelings as a woman with brown skin, and it being her babies. Or a white woman with white babies,’ Bullock continued in the short clip.

Jada’s daughter Willow Smith then interjected in the conversation saying: ‘It’s the mother-child dynamic. There is no color. We don’t have to put a color on…’

Bullock cut in, replying to Willow: ‘Maybe one day that will go away. Maybe one day we will be able to see with different eyes.’

In 2015, Bullock spoke to Glamour Magazine about her anxiety in anticipating the racism her son could face.

‘You see how far we’ve come in civil rights – and where we’ve gotten back to now. I want my son to be safe. I want my son to be judged for the man he is,’ she said. 

‘We are at a point now where if we don’t do something, we will have destroyed what so many amazing people have done.’

Last year, Sandra made a rare appearance with her daughter Laila on Red Table Talk for a Mother’s Day special.

Talking about her daughter she said: ‘She is our world superhero. She is going to be the one to save the world in our family.’ 

The Gravity actress has been in a relationship with her partner, photographer Bryan Randall, since 2015.

In 2010, she ended her marriage to ex-husband Jesse James following cheating rumors. 

She adopted her son Louis alone later that year.
