LAKE CITY, Fla. (AP) — A 5-year-old Florida lady roving in a vessel has died after a sturgeon leaped from a Suwannee River and struck her.
Wildlife officials pronounced Jaylon Rippy died after being struck Thursday night. Her mom and 9-year-old hermit were also harmed and taken to a Gainesville hospital. Their condition was not known.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission pronounced this is a initial deadliness available from a sturgeon strike on a Suwannee River. Four people have been harmed by jumping sturgeon this year.
