R. Kelly resurfaced on Instagram on Friday to sing a new verse to his 2011 song Shut Up.
The disgraced musician, who is currently incarcerated in Chicago, Illinois and awaiting trial for sex trafficking and racketeering charges, shared the post on the occasion of his 54th birthday.
His last appearance on the social media platform took place exactly one year ago, when he posted archival concert footage on his 53rd birthday.

Kelly’s new share saw him with his arms spread, holding several championship belts, as the audio played.
The new lyrics went, in part: ‘A tsunami of rumors have come to wipe my career away | After 22 years of a blessed career | Had me lying in my hospital bed crying mad tears | But just as I have many people hatin me, had so many people loving me’

In February of 2019, Kelly was indicted on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and in July of that year he was arrested on federal charges alleging sex crimes, human trafficking, child pornography, racketeering and obstruction of justice.
It was only the latest spate of legal troubles for the fallen star, who was indicted on 13 counts of child pornography in 2002 but later acquitted of those charges.
Kelly has frequently and consistently been accused of alleged child molestation, and has also been linked to a sex cult.

As of July 2019, Kelly faced a total of 18 federal counts, including child pornography, kidnapping and forced labor.
He was the subject of a searing and widely-viewed Lifetime documentary series Surviving R. Kelly in January of 2019.
Currently, the Chicago-born RB musician is awaiting his case to go to trial in Brooklyn, New York in early April.
