A 46-year-old black man, Floyd died May 25 while police had him handcuffed and were investigating a possible forgery. Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, was shown kneeling on Floyd’s neck while Floyd, lying on his stomach, said he could not breathe. Chauvin has since been fired, arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter. The other three policemen at the scene have not been arrested or charged.
