” Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)” hitmaker Christopher Cross is unable to walk amid his coronavirus battle – but insisted he’s “optimistic about improving.”

The Grammy-winning performer told fans he’s “suffering intense muscle weakness and a temporary paralysis of my legs,” but has been told by doctors he will recover.

“I will get past this,” the 68 year old pledged in a Twitter post on Thursday, April 17, 2020. “Unfortunately as a consequence of Covid-19 other problems were caused. At present I am suffering intense muscle weakness and a temporary paralysis of my legs – I am unable to walk.”

“However, physicians have assured me I will recover,” he continued. “I have already begun physical therapy and am optimistic about improving.”

The star revealed earlier this month he had tested positive for COVID-19, calling it “possibly the worst illness” he had ever suffered from, and in the new message he thanked fans for their support and paid tribute to his girlfriend, who has been his “angel throughout all of this.”

The new details of Cross’ symptoms come after actress Rita Wilson, who beat the illness along with husband Tom Hanks, told The Guardian she too was unsteady on her feet during the ordeal.

“Extreme nausea, vertigo, my muscles felt like wet noodles, so I couldn’t really stand,” she said. “We were just trying to get through it.”

Stars including Marianne Faithfull, Bon Jovi rocker David Bryan, Jackson Browne, Placido Domingo, and Pink have all battled COVID-19 over the past few weeks.
