Earlier this year Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston had very flirtatious encounters during award season leaving many to hope there would be a romantic reunion between the two.
And a close pal of the former couple gave her insight on their relationship.
Melissa Etheridge appeared on Watch What Happens Live on Monday night where she was about what she thought about the ‘hysteria’ surrounding the exes’ reunion at the SAG Awards in January.

Etheridge was obviously a fan of the love shared between the two A-listers.

She said: ‘Oh, you know what? I loved Brad and Jen together, they were beautiful.
‘I believe they will always remain friends because they’re two very special people that can get through anything. I just hope that their friendship lasts.’
The I’m The Only One hitmaker looked back fondly at the early 2000s with host Andy Cohen and fellow guest Kristen Johnston.

Fans salivated at the possibility of a Brad and Jen reunion during their very successful award season runs earlier this year.
Back in January, Jennifer briefly reunited with Brad backstage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where the actor touched her wrist and had a brief chat with her.

The pair definitely seemed happy to see each other, right after the exes both won awards at the show.
Brad, who infamously left her for Angelina Jolie in 2005, was seen touching Jen’s wrist and having a friendly chat with her backstage.
The pair shared another moment during the awards ceremony as Brad accepted a supporting actor prize for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

He quipped that ‘it was a difficult part. A guy who gets high, takes his shirt off, and doesn’t get on with his wife. It was a big stretch.’
The camera then cut to Jennifer, who could be seen clapping at the joke and pulling a face of wry recognition.
They both attended the Golden Globes and she could be seen looking delighted when he won a supporting actor award for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
While on the red carpet for that show, Brad lightly explained to Entertainment Tonight: ‘I’ll run into Jen. She’s a good friend.’

Earlier in the evening, as Brad gave his acceptance speech, Aniston could be seen laughing as Pitt joked about his love life and even being on Tinder.
Brad even watched Jennifer accept her award from a screen backstage.
The actor said ‘wow’ as she was announced the winner of Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.
Then finally in February Brad finally took home his first Oscar as an actor for Best Supporting Actor as he and Jen reportedly had another run-in.

The actress congratulated her ex on his win while attending Guy Oseary’s annual Oscars party, though this interaction lacked the same flirty vibe as the initial reunion, sources at the party told Page Six.
Though fans were holding out hope for a potential reunion, an insider has since shot this down.
The insider denied claims the pair were back in love following a string of secret dates.
A source denied the reports and told MailOnline: ‘There is absolutely no truth to this’.
