White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez on phenom Luis Robert: ‘The next Mike Trout’
Yet to play in a big-league game, Chicago White Sox prospect Luis Robert already has a $50 million contract – but the expectations for him may even outweigh that.
“Some people are going to call me crazy,” White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez said Friday, “but he’s going to be the next Mike Trout.
“He has five tools, and he plays hard like Mike Trout.”
Robert, the 2019 USA TODAY Sports Minor League Player of the Year, hit .328 with 32 home runs and 36 steals across three levels last season, including 16 homers in 47 games at Class AAA.
Having signed the contract, it’s expected that Robert will be with the team on opening day. Jimenez went through the same thing last spring, agreeing to a big deal before making it to the majors.
“Last year, I was a little bit anxious and I know he’s going to be, too,” Jimenez said.
