Jalen Ramsey, All-Pro Cornerback, Traded to Rams

A series of bold acquisitions helped propel the Los Angeles Rams to the Super Bowl last season. With his team flailing, General Manager Les Snead splurged on Tuesday to improve its chances of returning.

Of the three moves Snead made, none was more significant than the deal for the All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey from Jacksonville. In return, the Jaguars got three draft picks, including the Rams’ next two first-round selections and a fourth-round pick in 2021.

The Rams seized on a very public stalemate between the Jaguars and Ramsey, who missed practice time and his team’s last three games for a multitude of reasons — illness, a back injury, the birth of his child — after requesting a trade following a sideline altercation with Coach Doug Marrone during the team’s 13-12 loss in Houston in Week 2.

The Jaguars had been reluctant to part with Ramsey, whom they drafted at No. 5 over all in 2016, but the Rams’ assertive offer swayed them.
