A hiker who spent a cold, wet night sticking to a side of a precipice on a North Shore plateau has been rescued, with crews saying he’s “very, really lucky” he’s unhurt.
Michael Buckingham became mislaid on Crown Mountain around 4:45 p.m. PT on Monday. He phoned for help, observant he was stranded on a ledge.

He was discovered by helicopter usually after 8 a.m. PT Tuesday.
Buckingham, a 37-year-old British tourist, stood on his possess after being lowered from a helicopter’s prolonged line, explaining to circuitously crews that something had left wrong with an app he’d been regulating to navigate.
North Shore Rescue hunt manager Simon Jackson pronounced Buckingham didn’t have a lot of hiking knowledge in a area.Â
Jackson said the hiker’s app had an false map, that led him into a fraudulent situation.
The group posted a print of Buckingham as he was trapped on a ledge.
