Expect to see the Galaxy Tab S4 showcased on the same day as the Galaxy Note 9. The Galaxy Watch, however, doesn’t seem likely to join them.
TechnoBuffalo has spoken with the two sources who’ve said these products are showing up together on August 9 in New York City. Both are productivity-driven and will include Samsung’s S Pen, so it makes sense to introduce them simultaneously. Samsung would like to generate more buzz than usual for its second major Unpacked event of the year.
The tablet will also have the ability to run a desktop UI directly to a monitor using its USB-C connection. It seems AndroidGalaxys reported on this already, but our sources have reiterated the information.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 will have this, too, but it’s a use case easier to understand for the Galaxy Tab S4. There’s no need for a DeX and DeX Pad, which you wouldn’t be able to pair the tablet with anyway. Just link the Galaxy Tab S4 and a monitor to get a traditional desktop UI.

It’s the Galaxy Watch that we’re still a little shaky on. Our sources say it’ll ship in 42mm and 46mm sizes, but the timing of its arrival remains up in the air.
The colors, though, should be black and gold for the smaller size at the very least. Samsung, according to our sources, will be giving its smartwatch a “more feminine vibe†to broaden its appeal. Over the years, consumers have said Gear smartwatches are too rugged or geeky compared to the Apple Watch.
Based on what we’ve been told, don’t expect to see it during the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy Tab S4 unveiling. Yet we can confirm (as others have) that it’ll ship with Tizen rather than Google’s Wear OS.
So there you have it. From everything we just mentioned, it looks like Samsung is stacking its late 2018 portfolio with more than enough hardware to take on Apple. Now we’ll wait and see how it all goes down when Samsung makes things official.
