OnePlus 6 vs. Pixel 2 XL: OnePlus’s new flagship takes on Google’s best

Last week, I talked about how difficult it is to choose an Android flagship. That choice got harder today with the announcement of the OnePlus 6. In a crowded Android field, it is going up against the likes of the Galaxy S9 Plus, Galaxy Note 8, LG G7, Essential Phone and the Pixel 2 XL. Let’s take a look how it stacks up against the last of the bunch, the Pixel 2 XL.

The Pixel 2 XL is the resident go-to Android phone if you want a stock experience, quick and constant updates, and one of the best cameras available in a smartphone. It does everything you want. That applies to the 6-inch OLED display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 3,520mAh battery.

OnePlus 6 is squarely aimed at the affordable market. That’s how the company burst on to the scene and that’s how it managed to stay relevant. History repeats itself this time around, as the OnePlus 6, along with its 6.2-inch OLED display, Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM and 16MP dual camera come in at under $600. The cheapest pricing you can get is $529 for 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Each device has a specific area of expertise that will sway customers. As for which one is the better one, we’ll have a concrete answer once we get a chance to test out the OnePlus 6.
