LG has announced its latest flagship, the G7, and tossed its name in the arms race for best Android flagships available. It offers everything you look for in a modern Android flagship: a stunning glass and metal design, top-of-the-line specs and all the features users want.
For all that is great with the G7, it will inevitably be compared to its biggest competition – Samsung’s Galaxy S9 Plus. Surprisingly, the two are more alike than you may think.
First off, it’s best to call build quality a tie because both of these feel fantastic in the hand. Each has a front and back glass panel melded together by an aluminum frame with a seamless finish. Spec-wise, the Galaxy S9 Plus takes the crown because it does have an OLED display (the G7 settles for an LCD panel), more RAM (6GB versus 4GB) and it has a much bigger battery (3,500mAh versus 3,000mAh).
That being said, in previous years, Samsung mopped the floor with LG’s smartphones. This year, that’s not the case. The G7 makes a much more robust argument and it’s up to users to make the choice ultimately. Check out the spec shootout between the Galaxy S9 Plus and G7 down below.
