LG knows how you’re going to feel, but that doesn’t matter. The G7 ThinQ will feature a notch at the top of its display just like Apple’s iPhone X. So you better prepare to see yet another iPhone lookalike in the near future.
In the images surfacing this week, the G7 ThinQ is shown with its display both on and off with its notch clearly visible. LG is storing the front-facing camera and a few sensors in the piece that dips from above into the display. Other companies are doing it, and not just obscure brands anymore. With the G7 ThinQ, LG will become the most recognizable brand to implement a notch.
Here’s one of the leaked images:

Interestingly, the G7 ThinQ shown here appears to have additional buttons located on the left and right sides. LG could move the power button from the rear to one of the sides and join the volume rocker. But there’s also an extra space for a button. Because this phone carries ThinQ branding, artificial intelligence will be important. Maybe there will be a dedicated button to launch LG’s digital assistant.
As you can tell, there’s a lot still up in the air regarding LG’s plan to differentiate itself from the competition.
The source did reveal LG plans on including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 with 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage. All of that compares nicely against other flagships released this year.
Invites for a launch event have yet to be sent out, but there’s still time for that to happen even if LG plans on announcing its 2018 flagship in late April or early May.
